The Levels Gallery
(incorporating Sturgeon Publications)
The Levels Gallery, just a few steps from Tesco’s store in Langport, Somerset, displays the work of the late Somerset watercolour artist Eugene Richard Sturgeon.
E R Sturgeon was born in Drayton in 1920 and spent most of his life in Curry Rivel. His love and talent for art evident from an early age.
His first solo exhibition took place in a Langport gallery 1970. It was most successful - every painting being sold. Demand for his work then grew rapidly following the publication of a number of limited-edition prints.
‘Dick’ Sturgeon was particularly well known for his rural village scenes but the range of his work is broad and varied. The opening of the Levels Gallery in January 2023 gave us the opportunity to showcase his work. We hope that visitors will enjoy seeing the prints and cards that are on view alongside original paintings, pencil drawings and the signed limited-edition book.
After a short illness Dick died in December, 1999. (Sturgeon Publications continue to publish his work.)

We have an evolving array of local and British made work, including jewellery, greetings cards and much more.
Shakspeare Glass is the home of Will Shakspeare, one of the country's best-known glass blowers. Often featured on television and in the press, Will makes all of his glass from his Langport studio.
Enjoy a coffee and locally made cake. Let the world flow by on our decking overlooking the river, watch the glass-blowers huffing and puffing.
Or sit in the gallery and .......relax.
