Allotment Report - 2015

2015 was in many ways a difficult year. The spring was unusually cold with frosts in late April and an average night-time temperature of only 6.4c in May.

This made germination of root crops almost impossible. (We managed 3 carrots, 5 beetroot and no parsnips from three sowings of 15 foot double rows!)

Potatoes fared better and did not succumb to blight this year. Soft fruit, onions, garlic, beans, peas and squashes were OK but not as good as 2014. All in all a below par year for just about everything due to the weather

The proposal by the Parish Council to increase the number of allotments in 2016 is welcomed by all.

If you would like to try an allotment or even half an allotment contact Jane Redfearn - Parish Clerk –

We are a friendly lot and always willing to help in any way we can.
