2012 has been a tough year for the "allotmenteers" After lovely weather in March, the whole summer has been wet and cool, the wettest in 100 years! This has resulted in poor crops and significant problems with weeds and slug damage.

But are we downhearted? Certainly not! Even clearing the plot and settling the ground down for the winter is exciting and satisfying. We have every hope that next year will show significant improvements in weather and subsequent cropping.

Councillor Frank Pope is our allotment guru, however, for information regarding availability of allotments please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council. I'm sure you will soon get the bug and enjoy yourself with us all.

As the winter approaches may I wish you all good health and a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Keith Peto, notional chairman, Pibsbury Allotments.
