If you would like to know what is really going on regarding matters that affect all residents of our parish, why not keep and eye on the agendas and minutes of the parish council meetings displayed on this website or best of all attend the meetings. These are held bi-monthly and again are 'flagged up' on this website, you will learn about who is paying for what and why, the setting of the precept (your part of the council tax bill), planning applications, initiatives aimed at improving facilities and so on. By taking this route you will know what is really being discussed and agreed or turned aside and for what reason.

The (draft) prompt:

Several parishioners have contacted the Huish Episcopi Parish Council Chairman recently with reference to a three year old letter about a possible merger between Huish Episcopi and Langport, which was erroneously displayed on the Western Gazette Letters page a couple of weeks ago. Although a small paragraph (containing in itself a further error) acknowledged the mistake in the following edition, Councillors feel that this was totally unprofessional and fell well below the standards expected of local reporting. A local reporter has hardly attended a Parish Council meeting in the last year, even though the Council only meets bi-monthly, and such inaccuracies would be less likely to occur if they had the courtesy to check facts and background details with the Council before going to print.
