Langport Runners – 1k and 2k run on Northmoor for all children aged 4 to 14

You may know about the growing popularity of the 5k "parkrun" events at Montecute House and Longrun Meadow in Taunton.
Here in Langport we have created a 1k and 2k run on Northmoor, which brings the same relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun, but which is still challenging, for all local children from 4 to 14 years. The race has attracted interest from a wide area.
This event is open to all and FREE to all children aged from 4 to 14, girls and boys, and all abilities. Walking, jogging or running are all equally welcome and parents can accompany the youngest children but it can also be taken quite seriously by some of the children and good training for cross country.
Runners follow a level hard surface path alongside the Moor over a 1 km route, with two laps for the 2k race. We recommend first time runners under the age of 7 start with a 1k, one lap, run.
We record times which are available by email and on our facebook Junior Fun Run group page. Contact me if you would like to join the group.
Just as with parkrun we rely on volunteers who can be parents or guardians and do not need to be runners or active in sport at all. Please let me know if you can help.
Our next run is on Sunday 8th February starting at 10am by the Town Hall Gardens and will be the fourth in the series of monthly events followed by March 8 and continue throughout the year.
